[INDIANAPOLIS, IN - May 3, 2010] - Feeling tied to your office chair leave your muscles feeling sore? Buckaroo says, “Walk it off.” Keeping active and exercising regularly go strides toward preventing diseases such as Arthritis in its steps.

For the third consecutive year, Buckaroo Marketing | New Media will walk to end Arthritis at the annual Arthritis Walk® on June 5, 2010.

The topic is a personal one for the Buckaroo team as CEO Deborah Daily witnesses her mother and watched her grandmother struggle on a daily basis with Arthritis.

“My grandmother didn’t have a stitch of cartilage between any of her joints – bone on bone – grinding with nothing to look forward to other than another day of pain. Yet she courageously kept going until 88. Arthritis is painful and debilitating and caused my mother to have both hips and one knee replaced as well as back surgery,” Daily said. “She lives with pain every single day. If walking strides will help alleviate that pain, then sign me up.”

“We’ve come to expect arthritis in the elderly – resigning ourselves to its progression as a part of the aging process. However, when it strikes a child, the bravery and process of pain management is enough to bring the heartiest of men to tears,” adds Daily.

National Arthritis Month starts in May and comes to a head in June with the walk. This year’s theme is focused around the Let’s Move Together movement, a nationwide effort that encourages people to move to prevent or treat arthritis.

The event features a three-mile and one-mile course with arthritis information and activities for the entire family. In many communities, pet owners are invited to bring their dogs along for the walk.

Kids are also welcome with the newly-added Kid’s Zone presented by Merchandise Warehouse. This zone will provide a place for children to get their face painted and play in the bounce house. The first 100 kids at the walk will get to do a craft with the Southport Home Depot (kids must be registered).

This year’s walk honors 5-year-old Lexi Freeman who has been dealing with daily arthritis pain everyday of her short life so far. However, Lexi has learned to manage her pain with injections and looks forward to cheerleading, soccer and swimming. She is just one of the 6,400 children affected by Arthritis. Wrapped in a tiny package, her story gives big hope to many.

There are no fees to register but participants must raise a minimum of $100 to receive an Arthritis Walk T-Shirt.

The Buckaroo family welcomes you and your family to join their team and walk, run or even walk-jog to end and prevent Arthritis. Last year, the team raised more than $500 and is looking to double that amount this year!

The Arthritis Walk® is the Arthritis Foundation’s annual nationwide signature event that raises funds and awareness to fight arthritis, the nation’s leading cause of disability. The Arthritis Walk® kicks off in May during National Arthritis Month in more than 300 communities nationwide to fund arthritis research, health education and government advocacy initiatives.

Participants walk in honor of a friend or family member with arthritis. People with arthritis wear blue hats to signify their action in taking control of their condition. The event features a one-mile and three-mile course, with arthritis information and activities for the entire family. Bring your dog along too. There are thousands of dogs and cats who suffer from arthritis. And, just like we humans, they live with chronic pain everyday and take medications created to improve their quality of life.
