Follow the Yellow Bricks to Gleaners
[INDIANAPOLIS, IN - September 7, 2010] - Today, the Rotary Club of Indianapolis and Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana teamed up to kick-off the “Journey to GLOZ,” a mix between Gleaners and Oz.
A spin-off of the 1939 classic, The Wizard of Oz, the event will take place at the Scottish Rite Cathedral, 650 N Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN 46204, on Oct. 2 and feature members of Rotary dressed as Oz characters.
Buckaroo’s own CEO, Deborah Daily, dressed up as the Wicked Witch of the West and declared she was “green with hunger.”
“I don’t want your ruby red slippers, Dorothy.” Daily said, as the witch, “I want food for the hungry children.”
From September 7 to September 30th, “The Journey to Gloz” will be accepting donations to help feed the more than 89,000 children who live in poverty and go without food on the weekends through Gleaner’s BackSacks Weekend Food Program.
The journey ends on October 2 with a wrap-up event at the Gleaners Food Bank, complete with all the characters and yellow bricks lining the walls of the food bank in honor of donors.
Get your company involved, your clients involved or just yourself! Just $5.00 will feed a child for an entire weekend!
All checks accepted - any amount - $5 or $500 – made payable to the Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana! All contributions are tax deductible.
